Summary: Combo 5: fabulous, library, cell phone, omelet, shoes

“Fabulous,” groaned Mulder, as he exited the library with omelet on his shoes. Scully looked back at him with amusement.
“At least it missed your cellphone, Mulder”
He was not placated. “Scully, who eats an omelet in the library anyways? And why would one *run* with an omelet?”
She shrugged. “Odd people hang out in the paranormal events aisle, Mulder. I’m sure a person eating an omelet is the least of the oddities we might have encountered there.”
“But Scully, she was *running* with an omelet. Why would you run with an omelet?”
Scully raised an eyebrow. “So now the shoe’s on the other foot, so to speak. I never recall you being that sympathetic when my shoes were eaten by green goo, or ruined in the line of duty in various disgusting ways. An omelet isn’t that bad. Your shoe can be washed.”
“It’s not the shoe” he said impatiently. “It’s the mystery of the thing. What would make you get up one morning and say – I know, an omelet! In the library!”
She smirked knowingly. “It’s OK, Mulder, you can admit it. You care deeply about your shoes. You’re an urban man, you are careful with your dressing style. Omelet on shoes is just so last year.”
OK, that took me 5 minutes and 7 seconds. And was completely inane and not quite in character. And stole a line (uh, lovingly referenced a line) from Clyde Bruckman. But hey.
